About the event

The Mayor of the City of Warsaw invites to the international online conference #warsawfortheyoungest – Supporting the development of children under the age of three in nurseries. Best practices and new challenges.

On 1 – 2 December 2022, the 3rd international conference is held in Warsaw. The programme of of the conference is addressed to professionals working in the childcare and education sector, including directors and managers of nurseries, children’s clubs, day care providers and representatives of local government units and entrepreneurs.

The conference is organised by the City of Warsaw and Zespół Żłobków m.st. Warszawy [the Municipal Nursery Complex of the City of Warsaw] in cooperation with keynote foreign and national experts in early childhood education and care.

The conference is a forum for the exchange of international and national experiences in the field of conditions and quality of care, upbringing and education of the youngest children, as well as support for their development in institutional care.

  • A link with redirection to the event will be sent to the e-mail address indicated in the form. The link will also be available on the conference website.
  • The webcast will be carried out on YouTube platform.
  • There will be an opportunity to ask questions if having an account on YouTube platform.
  • The lectures on the first day will be presented in English with Polish subtitles.
  • We do not issue certificates.
  • Recordings of the event will be available on the website until the following day at 10 am

Efthymia Penderi

Efthymia Penderi is currently working as Assistant Professor in Democritus University of Thrace, Department of Education Sciences in Early Childhood. She had worked as a kindergarten teacher for over 20 years.

She has participated in national and European Research Projects such as Thalis, CARE, ISOTIS and PARTICIPA. She leaded the scientific team that developed the new curriculum for the pre-primary education and the relevant in-service training program, having also the scientific responsibility and supervision [Greek Institute of Educational Policy (IEP): MIS 5035542 and MIS 5035543 respectively].

She was a member of the scientific committee of IEP developing the Initial Training Project for the pilot introduction of the English language in the pre-primary school. She is a basic member of the scientific team of the project focusing on the training of pre-primary and English teachers regarding the introduction and monitoring of EFL in all the pre-primary schools in Greece.

Her research interests regard the sociopedagogical role of the school, sociocultural learning, pre-primary education curricula and quality, professional development, school-parent-community partnerships, children’s participation and inclusive pedagogy.

Giulia Pastori

Giulia Pastori is a full professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca where she teaches Pedagogy and the (pre)school context (Master degree in Psychology) and Intercultural Education (degree of Primary education).

Her research interests deal with Intercultural Education in Early Childhood Services (0-6) and in school (from Primary to Secondary, 6-18); Cross-Cultural Studies of Pedagogy and Psychology, Research Methods In Educational Research , Issues connected to the migration experience (Identity/Parenthood), Educational Issues in Secondary School and Students experience.
